Widjiwagan on the Road: Portland, Maine
YMCA Camp Widjiwagan alumna Sally Stockwell, it was an opportunity an alumni gathering on September 29 in Portland, Maine. Hosted by Widji alum Sally Stockwell, it was a chance to bring nearly 20 people together from around the East Coast.
She summarized the event saying,
“It was a treat to bring Widji alumni together at Maine Audubon, my long-time place of work. Folks who attended included recent campers and staff, past campers and staff stretching all the way back to the 1970s, and potential future campers too young to attend yet.
Some traveled over two hours just to bask in the glow of shared memories and a chance to once more be a part of the extended Widji family network.
After everyone had a chance to nibble and introduce themselves and their connection to Widji, Ben talked us through current Widji projects and strategic plans, and finally led us through some favorite Widji songs (even without a campfire!).
Good food, good camaraderie, good conversations. As I told Ben and Clare just before I left for a 6-day canoe trip in northern Maine – ‘I'm pleased to know Widji is in good hands!’”
A special thanks to the Gilsland Audubon Center for use of facilities.
