CYV at the MN State Fair

Center For Youth Voice closed out the summer with the annual tradition of hosting a booth at the Minnesota State Fair. Over the 12 days of the fair, more than 70 CYV alumni, friends, and current students volunteered at the booth, located in the Education Building.
We chatted with one parent who attended Youth in Government “back in the day” who shared their excitement that their 8th grader would be attending YIG for the first time this year.

We also connected with thousands of current student participants, potential student participants, teachers who are interested in getting involved, alumni, friends, and supporters from across the state.
We collected more than 500 student surveys and are excited to review the results to see how student fairgoers feel about the issues impacting their communities.
Brittany Wilson, Director of Civic Leadership Programs, summed it up best, sharing, “our YMCA Center for Youth Voice booth at the Minnesota State Fair was like one great big YIG-together—twelve days filled with meaningful connections among delegates, alumni, volunteers, teachers, parents, and friends. The best moments were watching alumni light up as they shared their delegate stories with today’s young people.”
We are already looking for volunteers to help us next year! If you are interested, email us at YouthVoice@ymcanorth.org.
