Jeff Greiner first experienced the impact of YMCA programs as a high school student participating in the Y’s Youth in Government program. He learned about civic engagement, community service and the power of collaboration. The program helped Jeff grow as a leader, and he served as youth governor at the annual model assembly conference in the 1976-1977 school year.
Jeff reengaged with the Y in the 1990s when a friend invited him to join the community board of the Hiawatha YMCA. Several years later, he joined the general board of the Minneapolis YMCA and later the YMCA of the North, ultimately serving as Chairman. He played a major role in the merging of the Minneapolis and St. Paul YMCAs to help the Y better serve the community.
Giving back is very important to Jeff and his wife Terri. That’s why they have included the Y in their estate plans to provide a gift for future generations. Jeff and Terri know firsthand that their investment will be employed in effective, life-changing ways. “I can think of no better steward for philanthropy than the Y,” Jeff says. “No organization positively touches the lives of more youth and families in our state than the YMCA.”
